The Asinocotto is located in Trastevere, the historic neighborhood right over the Tiber from the Roman Forum. Trastevere's main street is Viale Trastevere, on which the tram number 8 runs, starting from Piazza di Torre Argentina. There are many buses that run to Trastevere as well.
Trastevere is the old working-class neighborhood that housed the artisans and craftsmen in Roman times and through the Middle Ages. About 40 years ago it was discovered, like many city centers (SoHo, Greenwich Village, North Beach) and has become one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Europe.
